The Premier League is back for its second weekend of the new season, while the Scottish Premiership and Championship are now well into their stride and continue this weekend.

1. Bournemouth to beat Wolves at home (Sat, 3pm)

Bournemouth impressed despite defeat in their opening game of the new Premier League season at Anfield last weekend, and came within two minutes of snatching a point at the home of the defending champions before ending up with a 4-2 defeat.

The Cherries will be eager to be playing in front of their home fans for the first team this season on Saturday against a Wolves side widely tipped to struggle this campaign, having sold two of their best players this summer without finding notable replacements.

The West Midlands side head to the south coast currently sat rock bottom of the Premier League table following their 4-0 home defeat by Manchester City last weekend.

2. Hearts to beat Motherwell at home (Sat, 3pm)

Hearts head into week three of the Scottish Premiership season sitting pretty at the top of the table after back to back victories against Aberdeen and Dundee United ahead of the visit of Motherwell this season.

Derek McInnes’ side have now on six of their seven matches in all competitions this season and will back themselves to add another win to that tally at home this weekend against a Steelmen side without a league victory to their name so far this season.

3. West Brom to beat Portsmouth at home (Sat, 3pm)

West Brom are one of only three teams in the Championship to have won both of their opening league fixtures following victories over Blackburn and Wrexham which leaves Ryan Mason’s side with only goal difference separating them from the top of the table.

This weekend sees them take on a Portsmouth side who have lost their last two matches after being on the wrong end of a League Cup upset with a home defeat against League One strugglers Reading, which was then followed up by a loss at home against Norwich in the league.

4. Wrexham to beat Sheffield Wednesday at home (Sat, 3pm)

Wrexham are still looking for their first league win of the campaign following their third consecutive promotion last season to get them into the Championship, but Saturday’s fixture against Sheffield Wednesday at home is the perfect opportunity for that first win.

The Dragons were dealt two tough opening fixtures to the campaign against newly relegated Southampton and West Brom, which they lost by only one goal, but this weekend sees them host an Owls side going through turmoil on and off the pitch.

The Yorkshire side currently sit rock bottom of the Championship table and are strong odds on favourites for relegation this following a transfer embargo leaving their squad heavily depleted, financial instability with players and staff not being paid, stand closures and managerial departures.
