Bella Thorne Proposes to Fiance Mark Emms After Initial Engagement

Bella Thorne is returning the gesture by proposing to fiancé Mark Emms after he initially popped the question.

In a Saturday, August 16, Instagram video, Thorne, 27, dropped down to one knee in front of Emms as the couple were inside a home. Emms crouched down beside Thorne as she opened a box and his jaw dropped.

In another photo, Emms posed for the camera with his mouth wide open and hands in the air as red heart shaped balloons floated below the ceiling. Emms also pressed a kiss to Thorne’s head as she snapped a selfie of the pair in the room.

“3 years ago we met, 1 year later he proposed, Now 1 year later so did I ,” Thorne captioned the upload.

After the Disney Channel alum shared the intimate moment, users were quick to weigh in on the second proposal with mixed reactions. “If he already proposed why did you do it lol I’m confused,” one user wrote, while another added, “I don’t understand why everyone’s hating. It’s cute .”

Thorne addressed the remarks via her Instagram Story on Sunday, August 17, writing, “The comments on my post are hilarious!! Totally split down the middle. Half of u are like let’s not normalize proposing to your partner — other half is like f*** yeah girl power this is the sweetest!!”

Thorne and Emms first crossed paths at Cara Delevingne’s 2022 birthday party on a beach in Ibiza. “It was love at first sight as the sun rose,” Thorne gushed to Vogue in 2023.

Less than one year after the couple began dating, Emms popped the question in May 2023 with a 10-plus carat diamond ring at Thorne’s California home. The couple later celebrated with their family before Thorne debuted the ring via Instagram.

Thorne revealed to Vogue in 2023 that she hoped to tie the knot in the English countryside on the grounds of a manor. She also planned to rock either vintage Schiaparelli or Dior gowns for the occasion. “Every bride does not need one gown, but four,” she quipped at the time.

Before her engagement to Emms, Thorne was romantically linked to Mod Sun, Tana Mongeau and Benjamin Mascolo. Thorne and Mascolo shared in 2021 that they were engaged before splitting one year later.

“I broke up with Ben for my own reasons,” she wrote via her Instagram Story in 2022, asking followers to stop inquiring about the split since it was “a personal matter.”
