Canelo Alvarez vs Terence Crawford undercard fights announced featuring Dana White’s top boxing prospect

Callum Walsh and Christian Mbilli headline the huge Canelo Alvarez vs Terence Crawford bill.
Alvarez and Crawford will meet in boxing’s biggest fight of the year for the undisputed super-middleweight world titles on September 13, in front of a packed out Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas.
The huge event will be promoted by UFC president Dana White who will make his first foray into the sport with Zuffa Boxing alongside Saudi chief Turki Alalshikh.
Alalshikh had previously suggested that the fight week could feature multiple days worth of fighting action, as he plotted a bumper and record-breaking extravaganza of boxing.
And now the first undercard fights on the night of the clash between the two pound-for-pound greats have been confirmed.
Saudi prospect Mohammed Alakel will take on John Ornelas to open up the bill.
Canelo Alvarez‘s rival and super-middleweight challenger Mbilli will make his next bow against Lester Martinez.
Mbilli will look to retain his WBC interim title and victory could put him in line to face the winner of Alvarez and Crawford’s huge tilt.
And in a huge opportunity, White’s only previous contracted boxer Callum Walsh will take on Fernando Vargas Jr.
Walsh has had his undefeated career guided by White so far, with all of his fights having been broadcast across the UFC network.
The 14-0 super welterweight will look to build on his rising reputation in a huge bout on the biggest platform of all.
White has been full of encouragement for the Irish star and has backed him to become a real boxing superstar.
“We’ve had a lot of success with the Irish here with Conor McGregor and I think this kid could become extremely popular with the Irish,” he said.
“I’m not saying he’s going to be [as popular as] Conor, but he’s a great kid and he has a really fun fighting style.
“We can take him to New York and Boston and really build him into something.”
Sin City will be a great opportunity for Walsh to send his name into new superstardom.
Why is Canelo vs Crawford the ‘Fight of the Year’?
It promises to be a blockbuster event with Canelo and Crawford to duel in a mouth-watering clash of styles.
Alvarez is the favourite to take victory given he has been so dominant at 168lbs.
But Crawford is still undefeated albeit he will be piling on 14lbs to make the 168lbs limit for the first time, by moving up two weight classes.
Should ‘Bud’ pick up the victory, it will be a seismic push towards all-time greatness.
It would see him emulate Floyd Mayweather in becoming a five-weight world champion.
