Conor McGregor’s comeback fight could be in new sport as promoter drops huge hint over next opponent

Conor McGregor is reportedly keen to make his bare knuckle debut against the winner of Mike Perry vs Jeremy Stephens.
As it stands, McGregor has two fights left on his UFC contract, but he has been out of action for four years.
In his last appearance, McGregor left the Octagon with a broken leg during his trilogy bout with Dustin Poirier in 2021.
He has recently teased his comeback in footage shared on his social media, as well as re-entering the UFC’s drug testing pool.
And the Irishman also declared his interest in landing a headline spot on the newly confirmed UFC White House Card.
Although, his business partner, David Feldman, has revealed that the Irishman is gearing up a bout in his BKFC promotion that he acquired a stake in last year.
Feldman said: “We were supposed to have my partner, my friend Conor McGregor was going to be here today, but he couldn’t make it last minute because he’s actually very, very focused.
“It’s the best Conor McGregor I’ve ever seen… He’s training hard.”
He continued to announce that McGregor wants either Perry or Stephens as his opponent, should he fight under the promotion.
He said: “He’s focused because he said one of you two guys is probably his next fight.”
On October 4, Perry and Stephens will be going head-to-head at BKFC 82, with the Irishman pursuing the winner.
McGregor has expressed an interest in fighting both men in the past, especially as they were both favourites of UFC fans during their time in the promotion.
The Irishman famously ‘fired’ Perry from the BKFC after his recent defeat to Jake Paul in the boxing ring last year.
Stephens also has history with McGregor, with the American famously mocked by ‘The Notorious’ on stage at a press conference in 2016.
As a part-owner of the business, he would be debuting under his own promotion should a fight actually come to fruition.
Although, should that be proposed before his final two fights on his contract he would require permission from the UFC to action the venture.
What is next for Conor McGregor?
While he may be making an appearance in BKFC, McGregor certainly has his sights set elsewhere.
The US President, Donald Trump, has teamed up with Dana White to get the ball rolling on for the July 4 UFC White House event.
With the UFC CEO revealing that he would trust him more than Jon Jones as a headliner, McGregor just might get the chance.
Although White has stated that fans will have to wait until 2026 for any official announcements on who will feature on the historic card.
