Keegan Bradley annoyed by Bryson DeChambeau Ryder Cup stance as LIV star also speaks out

Bryson DeChambeau is set to be the odd man out on Team USA’s Ryder Cup squad.
The American golfer is set to miss out on a preparation event when the rest team play at the Procore Championship in Napa, California next month.
DeChambeau, who is in line to automatically qualify for the U.S. Ryder Cup team, will have to fine-tune his skills elsewhere.
The two-time US Open champion cannot play in the PGA Tour‘s Procore Championship, where several members of the US team will link up and prepare for next month’s showpiece event in New York.
DeChambeau is prohibited from playing as a member of LIV Golf, meaning he is automatically suspended from all PGA Tour events.
This has caused controversy, and comes after the 2023 US team were heavily criticised after they didn’t prepare for the event in Rome, with many players having not competed for five weeks in the lead-up.
Now, while his teammates prepare together, DeChambeau will be left behind after the PGA Tour showed no signs of bending its rules.
Keegan Bradley wants Bryson DeChambeau to prepare with the team
US Ryder Cup captain expressed his frustration at the situation.
“Well, he’s suspended and that’s out of my control,” Bradley told reporters at the BMW Championship on Thursday.
“I thought that the Ryder Cup sort of transcends all of this and really, the last thing on my mind is the PGA Tour-LIV stuff.”
DeChambeau has signaled his desire to participate in the event in California.
“That’s up to the Tour and their decision to make. It’s on them if they don’t let us become together as a team and play,” he told reporters.
The situation is unlikely to change either as DeChambeau’s agent, Brett Falkoff, has confirmed that no attempts have been made to lobby the PGA Tour to exempt the two-time major winner.
“We have not formally inquired,” Falkoff told Sports Illustrated.
“Bryson plans to participate in every team gathering that he is permitted to attend.”
Other members of the US Ryder Cup team confirmed they will be in Napa for the Procore Championship.
“My plan as of now is to go play in Napa. Outside of some extenuating circumstances, I’ll probably be playing in Napa,” World No. 1 Scottie Sheffler confirmed on Thursday.
“I think when you look at the last Ryder Cup, I think that was maybe a bit too much time off for us. It’s one of those deals, it’s tough.
“When you get to the end of the PGA Tour season, I think you’re a little bit tired. You look at a year like last year I had, when it came to the end of the season, I was pretty worn out. It took a lot out of me. It was important for me to get rest.”
Where will DeChambeau play before the Ryder Cup?
DeChambeau does have other options if he chooses to prepare for the Ryder Cup away from his teammates.
One event he could play at is the DP World Tour‘s Irish Open, which is a week before the Ryder Cup, although he would still need an invite.
The American has been in impressive form over the past 12 months and is currently fifth in the points race.
He has racked up his total by featuring in just eight major qualifying events while missing two cuts.
He scooped last year’s US Open while contesting the Masters in April where he reached the final group.
He was tied for second at the PGA Championship and tied for 10th at the British Open.
With LIV Golf not receiving ranking points for its events, DeChambeau is ranked 17th in the Official World Golf Ranking.
