Levante vs Barcelona predictions and betting tips – Flick’s team to march on

Barcelona kick-started the new La Liga season with a stress-free 3-0 victory over Real Mallorca last time out. The Blaugrana travel to Valencia to face Levante on matchday two, as they seek to make it six points from six.

Can their newly promoted opponents stop the champions, or will Barcelona have too much for them?

Levante vs Barcelona predictions

Barcelona got their La Liga title defence off to the perfect start last weekend, as they eased to a 3-0 victory over Real Mallorca.

Raphinha, Ferran Torres and Lamine Yamal – the starting front three – all got on the scoresheet as Hansi Flick’s team collected maximum points on matchday one.

Mallorca had two players sent off in the first half and that undoubtedly made Barca’s task easier. But the sendings-off did not come out of nowhere. The first, in particular, owed plenty to Yamal’s tricky wing play.

In the circumstances, Mallorca did a good job of keeping Barcelona at bay with nine men. The third goal only arrived in second-half stoppage time, but the Blaugrana could probably have found another gear or two had they needed it.

It has been another turbulent summer off the pitch for Barcelona, who continue to sail close to the wind when it comes to La Liga’s financial rules.

Barca were only able to register new signings Marcus Rashford and Joan Garcia on the morning of the match after yet another year in which their expenditure on transfer fees and wages exceeded their income.

In an ideal world, Flick’s squad would have been bolstered with a few more additions ahead of 2025/26, with Rashford and Garcia the only new boys at senior level.

Having said that, Barcelona were superb for much of last season and it was always going to be tough to make vast improvements to their starting XI.

Flick’s team won a domestic double in the manager’s debut campaign at the helm, lifting the La Liga and Copa del trophies by getting the better of arch-rivals Real Madrid. They were not far away from Champions League glory either: Barcelona were narrowly beaten by eventual runners-up Inter in the semi-finals.

Going all the way in Europe is the aim this time around, although Flick will not want to see his team lose their grip on the title. Madrid have strengthened their squad over the summer and Xabi Alonso brings a new hunger to the dugout at the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu.

The bookies can barely split them. Before the opening weekend, Madrid were slight favourites to finish at the summit of the standings.

Now Barcelona are seen as the frontrunners, perhaps because Alonso’s side were not wholly convincing in a 1-0 defeat of Osasuna on Tuesday night.

Levante vs Barcelona betting tips

Barcelona are the strong favourites to see off the threat posed by Levante this weekend.

Comfortable night for Barcelona

Levante are back in the big time following promotion last season. The club from the city of Valencia finished top of the Segunda Division, edging out Elche, Real Oviedo and Mirandes.

Their first game of this term ended in a 2-1 defeat by Alaves, whose winning goal came in second-half injury time.

That was a blow to Julian Calero’s charges and things are likely to get worse before they get better.

Levante have home advantage on their side, but that is unlikely to be enough to halt this scintillating Barcelona side.

The champions should establish a lead in the first half and hold on to it for the rest of the match.

Barcelona can score three times

Barcelona are hoping to have Robert Lewandowski available again, but the Poland international will probably begin the match on the bench.

If he is fit enough to make the matchday squad, we can expect to see Lewandowski on the pitch at some point, with Rashford also likely to enter the fray in the second half.

Barcelona have enviable strength in depth at the top of the pitch. Raphinha, Torres and Yamal is a scary enough front three; with Lewandowski and Rashford waiting in the wings, Levante’s task is even harder.

The home team’s defence will be severely tested from minute one to 90. Barcelona are more than capable of scoring at least three goals.

Raphinha can grab another goal

Raphinha was magnificent last season, scoring 34 goals in 57 games across all competitions.

Having previously been linked with a move away from Barcelona, the Brazil international suddenly became one of the first names on Flick’s team sheet.

It did not take long for Raphinha to get off the mark in 2025/26 – seven minutes of the game against Real Mallorca, to be precise.

Raphinha has grown into a reliable, clinical finisher and we like his chances of finding the back of the net this weekend.
