Machine Gun Kelly Reveals Super Bowl Conversation With Taylor Swift

Machine Gun Kelly had arguably the best seat in the house for Super Bowl LIX in February when the Philadelphia Eagles defeated the Kansas City Chiefs.

He watched the game, played at the Caesar’s Superdome in New Orleans, from Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce’s suite, along with Kelce’s girlfriend, Taylor Swift. Kelly, 35, looked back on the game in a Wednesday, August 6, appearance on ABC News Live, where he remembered asking if the couple would be at the Chiefs’ afterparty, where he was set to perform.

“I was in Travis’ suite, and at the beginning of it, Taylor was like, ‘Hell yeah, we’re gonna come watch you perform,’ like, ‘It’s gonna be crazy tonight,’” he recalled.

Kelly continued, “Internally, I was stoked. I was like, ‘Oh, what a legendary night this is gonna be.’”

The night, notoriously, did not go as planned for Kelce, 35, and his team. The Eagles led 24-0 at halftime in a game in which the Chiefs never threatened to close the gap significantly.

“By the third quarter, dude, I was looking at that score, I went up to Taylor, I was like, ‘Y’all aren’t coming tonight, huh?’” he added.

“She was like ‘I don’t think so man,’” Kelly continued. “‘I’ll see if I can get him to get out, but I don’t think [so].’”

It turns out Swift, 35, and Kelce did not show up. Kelly still performed, however, in front of a few dejected Kansas City players.

“Don’t ever sign yourself up for that,” he joked. “Wait to sign the paper until you find out, until [the] third quarter or something. Until it looks like it’s going one way or the other.”

Travis Kelce and Machine Gun Kelly’s Complete Friendship Timeline

Travis’ brother, Jason Kelce, who played for the Eagles from 2011 to 2023, has both won and lost in the Super Bowl. He once called those Super Bowl afterparties a “birthday party combined with a funeral” for the losing team.

“It’s the saddest party you’ve ever been to,” he said during a February 2025 episode of his “New Heights” podcast, which he hosts with Travis.

MGK, whose real name is Colson Baker, is a longtime friend of Travis, as both come from the Cleveland area.

“That’s my dawg,” he said. “He’s from Cleveland. He’s from right next to where I’m from.”

He means that literally. Travis said in 2023 while announcing his Kelce Jam festival that the two actually grew up “right down the street from each other.”

“I knew of Cols growing up,” Travis said. “But for the most part, I’ve just been a big, big fan of his through high school, through college. Being able to see his success has been really cool knowing that we’re from the same area.”
