Nottingham Forest v West Ham predictions

Nottingham Forest have made an unbeaten start to their Premier League campaign so far, picking up four points from their opening two games ahead of this weekend’s visit of West Ham.

Last season saw the East Midlands side record a top seven finish in the Premier League for the first time in 1995, bringing European football to the City Ground for the first time in 30 years.

Nuno Espirito Santo’s side picked up where they left off last season, kicking off the new Premier League campaign with a 3-1 win over Brentford, before earning a 1-1 draw at Crystal Palace last week to leave Forest level on points with the top four heading into this weekend.

Forest take on their third consecutive London opponents on Sunday afternoon as they look to make it two wins from two at the City Ground this season, and their strong home form was so important to their defying of expectations last season and securing a European finish.

In contrast, Tuesday night saw West Ham fall to their third consecutive defeat to start the new campaign as they crashed out of the Carabao Cup at the first time of asking, giving up a 2-1 lead at Molineux to end up exiting 3-2 after conceding twice in the last eight minutes.

Graham Potter is under pressure in his role as Hammers manager with the club currently rock bottom of the Premier League table after heavy defeats in each of their two games so far.

The east London side kicked off the campaign being on the wrong end of a surprise 3-0 defeat against newly promoted Sunderland, which they followed up with a 5-1 thrashing at home against Chelsea in a London derby.

11 goals conceded in three games in all competitions so far this season leaves West Ham with a lot of problems to answer, and the team will be desperate to put their first points on the board in the Premier League this season with at least a draw at the City Ground on Sunday.

Forest have won their last three games against West Ham, who haven’t so much as scored in any of their last four visits to the City Ground, from which they’ve conceded 11.

The East Midlands side will head into Sunday’s bout as strong favourites with West Ham going through such a tough period on the pitch, with a 3-1 home win seeming likely.

Nottingham Forest v West Ham betting tips

Leaky Irons outgrown by Forest

West Ham’s record of eight goals conceded in their opening two Premier League games this season will be cause for concern as they make the trip to the City Ground to take on a Forest side who have looked dangerous going forward so far.

The East Midlands side’s 3-1 win over Brentford, who have since kept back to back clean sheets, in the opening game of the season shows promise for their home form and their attack and will expect to have a strong game against statistically the Premier League’s leakiest defence.

Wood strong for Forest in Nottingham

Chris Wood bagged a brace in his last game at the City Ground against a Brentford defence who have since kept back to back clean sheets, and the Kiwi’s goals were instrumental in Forest achieving their European finish last season.

Wood scored the majority of his 20 goals last season at his home ground, including one against West Ham – a side he enjoys playing against having bagged eight against them in the past and a goal on Sunday would leave only one team Wood has scored more against in his career.
