Patrick Mahomes’ dad shared surprising four-word opinion of Taylor Swift after meeting her for first time

It’s official: Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift are engaged.
Swift’s long-running romance with the legendary Kansas City Chiefs tight end has been the NFL‘s biggest non-football story of the century, and their engagement announcement almost broke the internet.
What started out as an internet rumor quickly developed into the world’s hottest power couple, with Tay Tay becoming a regular fixture at Arrowhead Stadium as she cheered on her partner over the past two seasons.
Since first popping up in a box in September 2023, the Grammy-award-winning superstar has been spotted at more than a dozen Chiefs games, and became quite the good luck charm.
That run includes a brilliant playoff performance in 2023 that culminated with Kelce lifting the Lombardi Trophy during Swift’s first official year as a Chiefs fan.
In games she attended in 2024, Kansas City went a perfect 9-0 before being blown out in Super Bowl LIX six months ago, a game in which Swift was also booed when appearing on the big screen.
That heartbreaking loss sparked speculation that Kelce could hang up his cleats, but he soon confirmed he’d return for at least one more season, and now heads into 2025 having slipped a ring onto Swift’s finger.
Given the big news, it’s almost certain that we’ll see the world’s most popular musician cheering her man on from the stands again this year.
Swift has already gained legions of new football fans with her appearances at Arrowhead over the past two years, and it seems Patrick Mahomes‘ dad is one of them.
Patrick Mahomes Sr — who played in MLB for the New York Mets — outed himself as a Swiftie when asked about the singer last year.
However, he’s not so much a fan of her music, rather, he just thinks she’s a great person.
What does Patrick Mahomes Sr think of Taylor Swift?
When asked in an interview about her relationship with Kelce, Mahomes Sr said of Swift, “She’s down to earth.”
The elder Mahomes then recounted how he once introduced himself to her, but she already knew who he was after watching Netflix’s Quarterback docuseries, which follows his quarterback son and two other NFL signal callers during the 2022-23 season.
“I actually walked up and introduced myself to her, and she said she knew who I was because she had watched the Quarterback series,” he said.
“Every time I’ve hung out with her, she just acts like a normal person.”
Mahomes Sr also added that Swift took the time to take photos with his daughters.
Mahomes’ mother, Randi Mahomes, also appears to be a big fan of the ‘Bad Blood’ singer.
In 2023, Randi, who split from Pat Mahomes Sr in 2006, shared several Instagram photos of her daughter Mia, Patrick’s half-sister, hanging out with Swift.
“I love how sweet Taylor was to my girl!!” Randi wrote.
Who has Taylor Swift attended Chiefs games with?
Tay Tay appears to have endeared herself enormously to the Mahomes clan, and was also regularly seen attending games with the quarterback’s wife, Brittany.
The pair were at Arrowhead Stadium for the wild card matchup against the Dolphins in January 2024, and could be seen swaying along to the tune of Swag Surfin’ by Fast Life Yungstaz.
They enjoyed the action from a luxury VIP box and wore custom jackets to help withstand the icy conditions.
The matching jackets — designed by Kristin Juszczyk, the wife of 49ers fullback Kyle Juszczyk — even had their respective significant other’s name and jersey numbers emblazoned on them.
“Twinning & Winning,” Brittany wrote on Instagram to caption a series of photos with Swift.
Swift has also more recently taken in a game with WNBA phenom Caitlin Clark, and then made her way onto the field to celebrate with Kelce after the Chiefs punched their ticket to Super Bowl LIX with an AFC Championship win over the Buffalo Bills.
“Oh my god this is so insane. Look at this, this is not a real-life situation,” she could be heard telling Travis on the field.
Clark, who has also appeared on Kelce’s podcast as well as in his Arrowhead box alongside Swift, reacted to news of the couple’s engagement by re-posting their announcement on her Instagram story.
