Ryan Lochte Cozies Up to New Woman Amid Kayla Rae Reid Divorce
Lochte’s celebration of happiness came one month after he went public with his and Gillihan’s relationship following his split from wife Kayla Rae Reid.
Reid, 34, and Lochte were married nearly seven years before she announced in June that the pair were getting divorced.
“Earlier this year, I made the hard decision to end my marriage after deep prayer and reflection,” Reid wrote via Instagram. “I hold marriage in the highest regard, so this has been one of the most painful, revealing and challenging seasons of my life. I’ve been hesitant to share until I could do so from a place of healing — not from fresh, open wounds.”
She added, “For me, leaving was an act of love — for those around me and myself.”
Lochte issued his own statement about the breakup in June, noting via social media that he is “deeply grateful for the life [they’ve] built together.”
He shared via Instagram, “Although this decision hasn’t been easy, I believe it’s the right step toward peace and well-being for us both. I remain committed to healing, growth and coparenting with care and respect as we move forward separately. Thank you to our family and friends for your continued support. It truly means a lot as we begin this new chapter.”
Celebrity Couples Who Got Married in Secret
The estranged couple tied the knot in September 2018 after two years of dating. They share three children, Caiden, 8, Liv, 6, and Georgia, 2.
Following the 4th of July holiday, Lochte confirmed his romance with Gillihan by sharing several photos of the couple’s weekend in Daytona Beach, Florida.
After rumors surfaced that Lochte cheated on Reid with Gillihan, the retired athlete set the record straight, telling the Daily Mail in July, “I want people to understand that Molly didn’t take me away from my ex-wife.”
He claimed, “She didn’t take me away from my kids. We got a divorce and I left. I moved down the street because I wanted to be in my kids’ lives and I will always be in my kids’ lives.”

Lochte further alleged, “There was no infidelity with Molly, like, nothing. Molly didn’t do anything wrong. She didn’t pursue me, I pursued her. It was after I got served with the divorce papers. I was out of the house and living by myself. It was all after the fact.”
Lochte proceeded to gush about Gillihan, who has two children of her own, revealing she has the “patience of a freaking saint.”
Shortly after Lochte posted about “happiness” on Thursday, Gillihan shared her own social media upload about her budding romance.
“I highly suggest finding someone you can love doing life with … @ryanlochte,” she captioned an Instagram video of the pair being silly as Taylor Swift’s “So High School” played.

The following day, Gillihan showed Lochte support via social media after he revealed in a Friday, August 29, Instagram video that he is “54 days sober.”
“So proud of you honey,” she wrote via her Instagram Story on Friday, reposting Lochte’s message.
Lochte, for his part, shared in the video that he “checked [himself] into a Florida recovery center” after dealing with “depression” following a 2023 car accident. (He previously was involved in a car crash before entering rehab in 2018 for alcohol addiction.)
“Now I feel so much better. I’m thinking clearly. I’m moving forward,” he concluded on Friday.
