If the 20-year-old does win, he’d move a step closer to potentially claiming a heavyweight title shot as he rises up the rankings.

But Whyte, 37, will look to hand the youngster his first career defeat as he returns from an injury that forced him out of a clash with Joe Joyce in March.

At the weigh-ins, Whyte came in at a lean 244.1lbs, his lightest weight since his 2015 bout with Brazil’s Marcelo Nascimento.

Itauma, on the other hand, tipped the scales at 245.5lbs.

Itauma vs Whyte: What has been said?

Buddy McGirt, Whyte’s trainer, has made a shock admission in the build-up to the fight, saying he has never watched Itauma fight.

“I’m gonna be 1000% honest with you, I’ve never seen Moses fight, so I really don’t know what he’s ready for,” McGirt said.

“He’s got to bring it all. I said to Dill ‘Listen, let’s be realistic here, what can this kid do that you haven’t already seen?

“But can that kid ask the same question? Can Dillian do something that this kid has never seen before?”

After a heated press conference, Whyte spoke to talkSPORT, and wasn’t impressed with Itauma’s antics.

He said: “I said listen relax, we aren’t going to put our hands on each other. It’s coming.

“I said ‘relax you are not a badman’. This badman thing is not for you, I’m not going to go down that lane with you.

“I’m trying to be cool and respectful, but he was like ‘I want to see if you are a wolf or a sheep’.

“But take it easy bro, you don’t want me to get wound up, I will f**k all of your team up. I will beat them all up, if he winds me up then everyone is at risk.

“I don’t give a f**k. I’m chill until people start f***ing with me. That guy needs to take it easy and relax.”
