Wrexham vs Sheffield Wednesday predictions
Wrexham are huge odds-on favourites to win their first game of the season.
And it will come as no surprise as the Owls have hit some incredibly tough times as their club looks in jeopardy of failing to exist let alone compete in this league, thanks to their owner.
With a stripped squad they have to make the most of what they’ve got whereas Wrexham have almost the opposite – owners with the financial backing and interest in not only keeping the club afloat but thriving.
Wrexham vs Sheffield Wednesday betting tips
Wrexham to make most of home form
Wrexham are great at home with the help of the Racecourse ground atmosphere.
In the Championship where things are never guaranteed though, they still have to deliver on Saturday.
Wrexham have been somewhat unfortunate too, so they should be at least mid-table if just going off the first two games.
They’re scoring plenty but also conceding goals they shouldn’t be, which can be fixed.
However, I can’t see Wednesday having the same effect the likes of Southampton and West Brom possess.
Wrexham even scored three against Hull in the EFL Cup and may find themselves getting a flurry of chances this weekend.
We’re actually accustomed to Wrexham scoring plenty, conceding a couple here and there too as they have become a side that often see dramatic late goals, and just plenty of goals in general.
So far in the league alone they’ve scored three and conceded five.
- Wrexham to score over 3.5 goals at 6/1 on Sky Bet
Sam Smith to continue improving
Smith departed Reading in January to head to Wrexham and two matches in he’s already scored upped to the Championship.
With seven goals in just 18 appearances for the Dragons, he may well be earning himself a start soon enough.
However, he’s usually on the bench and at 13/10 is actually just a bit shorter than the player he would usually replace, Kieffer Moore who is 7/5.
Moore will have a fair few chances against Sheffield Wednesday too – allowing Phil Parkinson if they are up 2/3-0 early enough to change the squad around to rest players ahead of their next few games, making both bets appeal.
- Bet on Kieffer Moore to score at 7/5 with Betfair
- Bet on Sam Smith AND Kieffer Moore to score at 4/1 on Tote
