How Much Does It Cost to Be Part of Bama Rush? Sorority Fees Explained

Bama Rush has continued to capture national attention thanks to #RushTok and the college girls’ influx of outfit content.

The week-long Greek Life tradition takes place at the University of Alabama, with potential new members (PNMs) hoping to find a group of new “sisters.” In recent years, the college-aged girls have taken TikTok followers along for the ride, showing off their outfits in viral Get Ready With Me (GRWM) videos.

The process was explored in Max’s 2023 documentary Bama Rush, which detailed the history behind the university’s tradition.

“I really wanted to explore sorority life because I felt like it was going to be a lightning rod to talk about all of these other things that young women face, like body image and sexual assault and racism, classism,” Rachel Fleit told NPR of her motivation for the project at the time. What Is the Cost of Bama Recruitment?

Potential new members owe a recruitment registration fee of $375, which “covers the cost of Recruitment publications, facility usage, transportation, security and two recruitment T-shirts.” The University of Alabama Panhellenic Association noted that all registration fees are non refundable.

If the college girls need to move in early to their housing, they owe an additional $180.

What Is the Cost of Bama Sorority Dues?

Members of the sorority pay dues each semester, with the first semester being the most expensive because of one-time payments (think: pledging, initiation, badge or pin fee.) The University of Alabama Panhellenic Association explained that the 2025-26 new member fee per semester can be as high as $5,532.

After the first year, costs can vary depending on whether the sorority member is living in the house. In-house fees can be as high as $9,996 for the 2025-26 year, while out of house costs a maximum of $5,048.

What Is the Cost of Bama Rush Outfits?

Potential new members abide by a specific dress code for each round of recruitment, which ranges from dressing “comfortably and casually” to a “nice dress and heels,” according to the recruitment guide. While the girls are not required to purchase anything specific, several influencers have opted to buy new outfits for each round.
