talkSPORT betting tips – Best football bets and expert advice on Wednesday 27 August

With UEFA Champions League play-offs and English League Cup games, there’s plenty of football to take in on Wednesday night.

Benfica will be hoping home advantage will see them over the line when they host Fenerbahce in the Champions League play-off second leg at the Estadio da Luz.

Wednesday also sees Premier League duo Brighton and Manchester United take to the field in the League Cup and those games, along with the clash in Lisbon, will provide Wednesday’s selections here.

Wednesday football tips

Bet of the Day – Benfica to beat Fenerbahce to nil @ 33/10

Goalless after the first leg in Istanbul, Benfica and Fenerbahce face off in the UEFA Champions League play-off second leg on Wednesday night with everything to play for.

Fener failed to make the most of the one-man advantage of the final 20 minutes of the first leg following the sending off of Florentino Luis and now Jose Mourinho’s side face a tough trip to the Estadio da Luz.

Benfica have a strong recent defensive record, keeping clean sheets in all of their last six games in all competitions, while the Eagles go into this clash on the back of two wins in their two home games so far this term.

Considering that defensive strength of Benfica and how toothless Fener were on their own patch in Istanbul in the first leg, the Eagles to win to nil gets the nod for Wednesday’s Bet of Day.

Special of the Day – Oxford vs Brighton: Bet Builder – Brighton to win, Georginio Rutter anytime goalscorer & over 2.5 total goals @ 47/20

Brighton have endured a poor start to the Premier League season, but the Seagulls can get back to winning ways when they head to Oxford United in the League Cup.

With just one point from their first two games against Fulham and Everton, it’s been far from the ideal start to the top-flight campaign for manager Fabian Hurzeler and his side.

However, they have more than enough quality to beat an Oxford side who have lost all three of their Championship games so far this season.

Georginio Rutter missed the game against Everton last time out due to a minor injury, but should feature and score against the U’s in what is likely to be a high-scoring game at the Kassam Stadium.

Longshot of the Day – Grimsby vs Manchester United: Bet Builder – Benjamin Sesko 2+ goals, Manchester United to win both halves and over 3.5 goals @ 7/1

Manchester United have also stuttered at the start of the Premier League and can chalk up a first win of the campaign on Wednesday at Grimsby Town in the League Cup.

Big summer signing Benjamin Sesko has been eased into life at United in the Premier League, but should be handed a starting role on Wednesday and is capable of opening his goal account with at least a brace at the League Two Mariners.

Even with changes made by United boss Ruben Amorim, the Red Devils can dominate this contest and there would be little shock in seeing the visitors win both halves and for there to be over 3.5 goals over the course of the game at Blundell Park.
