Rangers are already two games into the new campaign having defeated Greek side Panathinaikos over two legs in second round of Champions League qualifying over the last fortnight.

New manager at Ibrox Russell Martin will get his first taste of domestic action on Saturday with a trip to Motherwell as his side begin their bid for a first league title in five years.

In League One, Cardiff will be playing their first third tier match for 23 years following their relegation from the Championship last season, with a lunchtime clash at home against Peterborough awaiting them in front of the Sky cameras.

Elsewhere, Blackpool will be looking to secure promotion back to the second tier at the third time of asking this season and start their campaign at home against Stevenage, while Mansfield make the short trip to Burton in another 3pm kick off.

Last season’s League Two champions Doncaster begin their campaign back in League One after two years in the fourth tier with a home game against Exeter.

In League Two, title favourites MK Dons kick their season off at home against last season’s National League play-off champions Oldham, while fellow promotion candidates Chesterfield host Barrow in their first competitive outing of the new season.

Notts County and Salford are also expected to be in the hunt for promotion come May, and they will kick off their 2025-26 campaigns away against Newport and at home against Crewe respectively.
